Beth and Jason

I would attribute my introduction into wedding photography to these two lovebirds. I first met Jason on my first trip to Hawaii. He was a friend of my current partner at the time and we coincidentally were on the Big Island at the same time. That friendship has naturally blossomed over the years. From our mutual love of Chicago to perspectives on life this relationship was seamless.

Jason told me he plans to propose at the Botanical Gardens and I was giddy. We planned his walking route and shared locations via iPhone. From then on, I was hooked on couple portraits.

I didn't really have any plans on photographing the wedding. In fact, there was a photographer that was part of the package from the officiant. It was during pandemic times and the officiant wouldn't allow more than 5-6 people near the couple during the ceremony. So the friends just stayed and observed from a distance. The dinner reception was an intimate ceremony at his mom's home on the Big Island, Hawaii. I thoroughly enjoyed soaking it all in as a guest and celebrating with their loved ones. But when they suddenly got up to share their first dance, something inside my pushed me to capture it. Capturing these once in a lifetime moments is such an honor. To do it for people I love is the cherry on top.
